If this step is not successful, it will be impossible to use KestrelCrumbs. Performing this step before purchase saves you time, so you can evaluate the software more efficiently during the refund window. Phones with unreliable Bluetooth functionality may cause KestrelCrumbs to malfunction.Supported DevicesKestrelCrumbs has been tested extensively on the 4500BT with firmware Iss 4.58. It is designed to work with all Bluetooth-enabled Kestrel 4XXX devices including: Kestrel 4000, 4200, 4300, and 4500.Important• Most phones disable Bluetooth when Airplane Mode is on, but may falsely report that Bluetooth is enabled. For best results, make sure Airplane mode is off.• It may take a few seconds for a phone to recognize a Kestrel that has just been turned on. If the Connection Failed dialog is shown, wait a few moments before retrying.• If connection problems persist, try disabling and re-enabling Bluetooth on both the phone and Kestrel before retrying connection.• A Kestrel will disable its Bluetooth radio when its batteries fall below a certain level. KestrelCrumbs will lose contact with the Kestrel in this event.• Mac users using Android 3.0+ devices will need the official Google File Transfer tool to copy exported CSV and sqlite files to their machine. It can be found at http://www.android.com/filetransfer/• KestrelCrumbs enforces that data stored in a dataset has consistent units.Requirements• Your Android phone must successfully pair with your Kestrel. For instructions on pairing Bluetooth devices, consult the manual for your phone.• To send a CSV file through eMail, a properly functioning eMail client must be installed. Tested with gMail.• To send data via Twitter, a properly functioning Twitter client must be installed. Tested with the official Android Twitter client.Known limitations• A Kestrel measures min, max, and average for Wind Speed, Direction, Headwind/Tailwind, Crosswind & Wind Chill differently than KestrelCrumbs. Kestrel devices do not compute these values on stored data, and do not export this information. The method used by KestrelCrumbs is based on stored data and will differ from what is displayed on your device.About this BetaKestrelCrumbs 0.9.x is a beta release. I tried this. I was eventually able to get it to connect to the older 4500 series kestrel, using a Samsung galaxy 10 Android. But, I was unable to get it to save data for download. I think it is safe to say that this thing does not work. I will be requesting a refund.

After owning my Kestrel for 6 years now, finally found an android solution to my long awaited want of both real-time transmission and data storage. Paired it up, works amazingly.

Purchased as it was the only app that was recommended by Kestrel for the 4600BT but yet it gets a little specs on the device and that is all no actual data. What is the point? Wasted $8 should have been free since the unit cost almost $800.00

I bought this software for US$ 7.99. My Kestrel 4600 BT connects via blotch to my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 but does not transmit data. There is nothing data on my android cell phone. Not Working with my Kestrel 4600 Heat Stress Tracker with BT

It just plain sucks

Weather trends are most easily observed in graphs. This app gathers data well but requires exporting to make sense of it. Wish it included graphing!

A kestrel app that works. Tried weather bird, that one crashes all the time. Wish that this app would graph the data. Hopeful in time it will! This app is exactly what I have been looking for to complement using my kestrel, and best of all an app that doesn't crash every time you try to do anything. Also, I hope the developer is responsive to support emails, seems all the other kestrel apps have developers that either refuse to answer emails, or no longer support their own apps.

So far everything on it works for my 4500NV. I am looking forward to development.

Having spent the day testing every one of the different Kestrel recommended apps this one was by far as away the most polished, even with several features (filters) I didn't even know I wanted. I am not in need of a shooting application, more the wind and temperature information for our field technicians. A small problem was present with sending the .csv file via email on newer (4.2.2) devices. I emailed the Developer and within a couple of weeks I had the problem fixed. Great service.

I was very happy to see this app featured on the kestrel manufacturer website. It gave me the added assurance that this wasn't a bogus app. Thank you.
